Addiction is a bad habit that is hard to shake off. It could be drugs, it could be alcohol. But there is a new bread off addiction and it involves the Virtual Reality.

FPS Games (First Person Shooters) are an addictive genre for the young adolescent males and teenagers. First person Shooter games are a form of action games that involves guns and shooting multiple enemies at one time. In the young adolescent mind, they would think that this is a fun game. But do not realise that it could encourage violence in there minds. In America a 16 year old teenager by the name of griffin is addicted to a hugely popular first person shooter called counter strike. Griffin’s life was revolving over one action and that was to play counter strike with his friends. The game counter strike is a team based fps game, with one team playing the role as the terrorist team while the other team playing as the counter terrorists, hence the name counter strike.

This game changed griffin’s life as he then started to skip school and left social activities and even alienated his family. Griffin was highly addicted to the game. Counter strike carrying an M15+ rating level should not be played by the young teenagers as this is to much for there age. They would get addicted just like griffin. Although there is ment to be a positive side to fps games, there are far too many negative points. Some teenagers replied that fps games are a good way to take out frustration and anger out of their bodies. But it could also put more frustration and anger into the human body. The fps genre is most popular in Asia and America. There are also special internet cafes just for these types of games, referred as LAN joints. These types of games are getting more and more popular due to new games such as Doom 3, Farcry, and many more to come.
